Celebrations for the 2023 took place over two nights, with the Miniroos & Juniors having a blast at Dunmore Park on Friday 15 September, followed by our Senior End of Season Event at Newstead Brewing Co. on Saturday 16 September.

We were so happy to be able to highlight the successes we’ve had throughout the year, and to thank our volunteers for the contributions that they have made, especially after a massive year that saw the club named Club of the Year for Football Queensland’s Female Football Week 2023.

Volunteer Awards

Clubperson of the Year (Phoenix Shield) – Miranda Mason

Miranda’s enthusiasm is unrivalled, with 2023 seeing her take on Coordinator duties for the Miniroos boys’ teams, as well as Saturday morning Miniroos referee coordination, leading to an increase in both referee and player numbers for the 2023 season.

Miranda has previously volunteered in coaching roles and coordination of the women’s squad. Besides bringing technical skills and playing experience, Miranda always conveys a joy of football and community to members, helping to create a great team and club culture. Miranda gives up a lot of her time to help the Club and is always supportive and positive when dealing with everyone (which isn’t always easy bright and early on a winter Saturday). Her focus is on our members, young and old, having fun and developing and making sure that everyone is ok. Miranda is a great asset to the Club and a beloved part of our community.

Club Community Team of the Year (Muir Shield) – U13 Girls

Our U13 girls’ team has a large number of active volunteers across the player, parent/guardian and coaching group. With seven club referees and two U6/7 junior coaches in the player cohort, and four committee members in the parent/guardian and coaching group (Miranda Mason, Cail Turp, Matt Gore and Makayla Major), they really have been integral to the Club’s success this year. With terrific attitudes across the board, and a willingness to always lend a hand, they are great representatives for the Club. Keep up the great work team!
