Celebrations for the 2024 season were a smash, with the Miniroos & Juniors having a blast at Dunmore Park on Saturday 7 September, followed by our Senior End of Season Event at Newstead Brewing Co. on Saturday 28 September.
We love highlighting the successes we’ve had throughout the year, both on and off the pitch. Thank you to all of our members for helping to make this year our biggest year yet!
Life Membership – Fiona Turp and Cail Turp
We inducted two of our most reliable and respected club members as Life Members of Toowong FC. They can always be counted on to lend a hand, are raising the next generation of players and volunteers, and have given over 35 years of service at the club – never missing a season since they joined up.
Fi started in 2006, was a foundational women’s team member, has volunteered as women’s coordinator, canteen manager, and coach over the years. Fi is a confidant to players and volunteers alike, and has contributed significantly to the club culture at Toowong FC.
Cail started shortly after in 2007, and is now known as Toowong FC’s number 1 coach (as our Director of Coaching). He has been as impressive on-field as off, with an extensive playing background, including for our inaugural Capital men’s team, and only narrowly losing the golden glove race in first year in goals in 2024.

Volunteer Awards
Clubperson of the Year (Phoenix Shield) – Lachlan Carl
Lachlan has been a fixture at Toowong FC for 15 years and is someone who everyone at the Club that knows him would consider a friend. Lach is always a welcome presence both on and off the pitch. Having coached for over ten consecutive years, he is a tireless promoter of the women’s game, and patient to a fault.
In 2024, Lach stepped out of his comfort zone to take our newly formed Div 1 women’s team on in a challenging, but incredibly rewarding season for all involved. To top it all off, Lach was part of the Grand Final winning O45 Div 2 team, in typical fashion putting his hand up to help out the squad when they were short on numbers. We’re so lucky to have Lach representing Toowong FC as both a player and a volunteer, and can’t wait for many more seasons to come.
Club Community Team of the Year (Muir Shield) – O30 Women (Curlews)
This team best represents Toowong FC’s values as a club – full of volunteers, with several committee members, coaches and managers, and they’ve consistently had the highest turnout at working bees this year. They have balanced to perfection fun and playing football.
Their inclusivity shows in the number of new and returning players have joined the squad this year, along with continual support of other Toowong FC team games. The team also has three sets of players who currently have their entire immediate families (parents and all children) playing at Toowong FC!
Competitive Team of the Year – O35 Div 3 Men (Rapids) (Premiers and GF winners) [15 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses]
Never really in doubt as they navigated their way through the season, with this team finishing comfortably as Premiers (even though they missed their 100 goal target as opposition forfeits piled up), then capping off the year with a grand final win at home for our last game of the season at Dunmore Park.
