The flood recovery cleanup starts Saturday 5 March at Dunmore Park with a major working bee, starting from 8am. Please read through all of the details below to find out how to best help the Club with recovery efforts.

What to check before you leave home

  • Weather forecasts and road conditions (to ensure safe travel)
  • Our Facebook page for Flood Working Bee status updates
    • We’ll provide frequent updates, including weather-related cancellations or calls for more/less volunteers.

When to arrive

We’re expecting a lot of helpers, so to help manage volunteer numbers, we’re asking that members aim to come down to help in their team’s allocated slot, as best possible:

  • 8am-10am: Masters
  • 10am-12pm: Men’s Metro and Miniroos (U6-U12)
  • 12pm-2pm: Women’s Metro and Juniors (U13-U16)
  • 2pm-4pm: FQPL Teams (Men’s and Women’s)

** If you’re not available during your team’s allocated time, or want to stay longer/shorter, come down when you can. **

Note: We’re able to facilitate a maximum of 30 helpers at any time.

If you’re not a TFC member and keen to help, email Becky at secretary@toowongfc.com.au or message us through social media channels to help us coordinate the best time for you to assist.

What to bring

  • Water bottle and snacks
  • Gloves
  • Sturdy closed shoes or gumboots
  • Bucket
  • Scrubbing brush or sponge
  • Hand sanitiser and insect repellant
  • Head lamp (if available)
  • Disinfectant or household cleaner (if available)
  • Stiff bristle broom (if available)

What to do when you arrive

  • Consider parking on surrounding streets and walking to Dunmore Park (depending on weather, our car park may be inaccessible)
  • Head to the check in desk (marked with corner flags), where we’ll aim to assign you a task
  • We’ll have committee members in hi-vis vests coordinating efforts

What are we aiming to do?

Clean/recover equipment and balls, clear out canteen, sweep & clean floors, disinfect walls, remove rubbish inside and out, clean externals (benches, walls, walkway etc.)

What will need to be done afterwards?

There will be lots of ongoing work we’ll need your help with, likely for months, including minor construction, painting, repairs, fundraising, washing and so on. If you can’t make it Saturday, don’t worry, there will be plenty to do!
