Grant news

In late February we were advised that we had been successful in a large grant application to make much needed improvements to our facilities at Dunmore Park.

The funding, received through the Brisbane City Council Building Stronger Communities Grants Program, will allow us to deliver the following:

  • An extension of the concrete concourse by some 1.6m into the field area allowing aluminium seating to be positioned along the entire length of the clubhouse
  • The support poles will be realigned to improve the space behind the new seating for players and officials
  • The canteen covered area will be partially enclosed, allowing us to have a large area for family food consumption
  • Leveling of the area next to the cafe to allow external picnic tables to be put in place

Secretary Pete Muir said “This is a fantastic grant for us to have received as it shows that our ongoing efforts to improve the experience of our community are being rewarded.”

“The new seating [around 450] will be afforded shade from the existing building awning, reducing the pressure on the narrow walkway area that gets crammed full of parents spectating when the sun is out and it is too hot to be on the large, open seating area.”

A typical Saturday morning currently

“In addition we are really excited by the opportunities the enclosing of the cafe area will bring. We have never had a large meeting room sized area before and we can see it being used for so many uses, primarily as a covered area for people to look at our trophies and enjoy some food while they watch their family play.”

The building works are currently going through the process of refining the design and pricing submitted as part of the grant process, and it is expected that the works will commence in July and be complete for the end of season football and club activities.
